Dear Area 23 Council Members, Ralph, Veronica, Alex, and Steve W.,  Congratulations to a successful event!  You all are a wonderful team to work with!  Despite, the stressful challenges that occurred, we managed thru and MOST importantly the athletes had a wonderful time!!!!!!!!   Great job Area 23!   Thank you so much for all you do for Special Olympics Virginia!  Your efforts allow these athletes to enhance their self-esteem and to strengthen their self-confidence through participation in sports!  Below is the link to the article in the Potomac News:  (great article)

As of 7 AM today, track and field meet at Hylton High School is still on!

Kevin Stanhill, beloved son of our powerlifting coach, Jerry Stanphill, passed away on May 9, 2009.  Kevin was involved in Special Olympics for several years in the Hampton Roads area as well as in Prince William County.  He helped his father most recently with powerlifting and basketball.  Visitation: Monday, May 18, 2009 7 to 8 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 15695 Blackburn Road, Woodbridge, VA 22191, telephone: 703-670-6556. Service: Tuesday, May 19, 12:30 PM also at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church .  Interment is at Quantico Cemetery in Triamgle, VA
