TD Bank is proud to partner with Special Olympics.  Their Affinity Membership Program offers an easy way to raise money for Special Olympics.  The more members who bak with them, the more money our organization can earn.  There are no costs involved.  In fact, it actually pays you to belong!

How it works.  TD Bank will make an annual contribution to Special Olympics based on the average balance of our members' accounts. Eligible consumer and business caccounts include: chekcing, savings, money market, certificate of deposit and retirement. A group minimum of 500 member households is required to participate.

Washington Nationals Basebal Club's Special Olympics Day

The Washington Nationals Baseball Club has selected the August 9th game for Special Olympics. Their goal is to bring athletes, families, and volunteers from local chapters in Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia out to the ballpark with a few goals in mind.  Attached is a flyer for the event. The tickets are $14 each. They are normally priced at $22 for a single game ticket. There is a ticket service fee of $2.75 per ticket. ADA seating is available through the link. Unified Softball

Prince William Special Olympics is considering restarting the Unified softball program and would like to have athletes, partners and coaches express their interest. 

To help us get an idea of the interest, appropriate number of teams and ages of participants, we ask that you respond  no later than  May 30, 2009.

Depending on this response, we will plan on having practices during the Spring and Summer of 2009 and build toward travel and competition in 2010.

Thursday, June 11 - Torch Run

This years Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics will be held on Thursday June 11th.

The run will be the same as last year, beginning at the Fairfax County line on route #1 and ending at the entrance to the Marine Corps Base on Fuller Road.

Anyone who is interested in participating in the run, please contact me via e-mail so, I can have some idea on the number of runners. Runners will be assigned to different legs of the run but, if you have a particular area you want to run, or if you want to run the entire length ( approx.10 miles) let me know. The run is expected to reach Prince William County around 2 P.M. A shuttle bus will be provided to transport the runners to their posts and pick them up after they complete their leg. T-shirts will be available for purchase. Athlete, Please let us know the size you need if you are attending.

Once the runners reach the area of Route #1 and Cardinal Drive, Special Olympics athlete will join them for a short run. As in the past, food and drinks will be provided. This will start around noon and be held in the garage area at the Gar-Field pumps. Please stop by and mingle with the Special Olympic Athletes and grab yourself something to eat and drink.

Further details will be forthcoming on the times and sequence of events.

May 16 Track and Field Meet - THNAK YOU

Dear Area 23 Council Members, Ralph, Veronica, Alex, and Steve W.,  Congratulations to a successful event!  You all are a wonderful team to work with!  Despite, the stressful challenges that occurred, we managed thru and MOST importantly the athletes had a wonderful time!!!!!!!!   Great job Area 23!   Thank you so much for all you do for Special Olympics Virginia!  Your efforts allow these athletes to enhance their self-esteem and to strengthen their self-confidence through participation in sports!  Below is the link to the article in the Potomac News:  (great article)
