Welcome to Prince William Special Olympics

Prince William County Special Olympics provides recreational programs for individuals with developmental disabilities who reside in the county. Currently there are 13 competitive sports events which involve 270 athletes (children and adults).

According to Changing Lives through Sports: A Report Card on the Impact of Special Olympics, the benefits are substantial. Research documents significant improvement in sense of self, social skills, and social interactions. Parents also see health critical health benefits. Reliable data also reflects a strong correlation between Special Olympics participation and the ability to be employed.

Polar Plunge

For many, Special Olympics is a place where they find an opportunity to participate in their communities, develop belief in themselves, and feel like champions. We are proud to offer a wide variety of sports and competitive events in: Alpine Skiing, Aquatics, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Floor Hockey, Soccer, Powerlifting, and Track and Field.  We hope to start volleyball, golf, and possibly a local program at Quantico.  Equipment and training are provided to the athletes free of charge.

We participated in the Polar Plunge in February 2014 at Virginia Beach and Tim's Rivershore. There is still time to donate by going to

http://www.firstgiving.com/team/242810 then donate to the individual of your choice.

Thank you for your support of Greater Prince William Special Olympics
