If you like to bowl, then how about learning to play bocce? It is usually played outdoors on the grass and has peaked the interest of several athletes. Bocce (sometimes anglicized as bocci or boccie) is a fun ball sport with a common ancestry from ancient games played in the Roman Empire.

The basic principle of the sport is to roll a bocce ball closest to the target ball, which is called a pallina (the smallest ball). The sport allows athletes the opportunity to have social contact, develop physically and to gain self-confidence.

Our bocce program has events for singles and doubles competition. Bocce consists of a spring season (April and May) and a fall season (Aug thru Oct).

East side bocce meets in Woodbridge  at  Potomac Middle School, Thursdays from 6:30 - 7:30 PM. West side meets in Gainesville at 13451 Fieldstone Way on Tuesdays.

Email Rhonda Tabor at or call 571-338-9050 (east side) or Robert Pourciau at or call 571-598-4457  (west side) if you are interested in this fun sport.
