Welcome to Prince William Special Olympics
Prince William County Special Olympics (Area 23 of the Rappahannock Region in the state of Virginia) provides recreational programs for individuals with developmental disabilities who reside in the county. There are several competitive sports involving over 250 athletes, including children and adults.
According to Changing Lives through Sports: A Report Card on the Impact of Special Olympics, the benefits are substantial. Research documents significant improvement in sense of self, social skills, and social interactions. Parents also see health critical health benefits. Reliable data also reflects a strong correlation between Special Olympics participation and the ability to be employed.
If you are new to Special Olympics Virginia, please download and read carefully Instructions and Athlete Registration, Medical and Release Forms (link below.) Follow the instructions for completion and submission. You may also hand carry to the first practice of the selected sport. Before submitting the packet, please ensure a licensed medical examiner (a person licensed in Virginia to complete physical examinations) has signed the bottom of page 5, Physical Examination.

Once the athlete's forms have been submitted they are free to participate in any sports available for the current season.
